Tomathen's Blunder

You wake in a moonlit garden. In front of you, a palatial dungeon with locked halls and guarded courts beckons. Unlock the gates and fight your way through what lurks in the shadows.
Tomathen's Blunder is a 2D action-RPG where you play a small animal with big aspirations.
The game is the unfinished life's work of a family member who passed away. It follows the direction set in their incredible art, unique setting, and unusable code as faithfully as I can. Their most ambitious ideas have not been fulfilled, but it would be a shame for the world to not know their work.
Features
'Mazing Magic

Magic is powerful, arcane, and unforgiving.
Nothing prevents the lowliest of mages from casting the greatest of spells (whether they should is up to the player's discretion). In skilled hands, spells afford awesome destruction.
In others, a loss of the most precious resource. After the blunder, rgeneration was severed and most sources of magicka are finite. Though a failed cast is not completely in vain, as a cast is also an investment into that school of magic, yielding its gifts to the most ardent of bearers.
Nine schools each have their own distinct identity and skill tree. Species have innate aptitudes for different schools.

Cool Characters

- Rat: Dark, snares foes and strafes with chained swings
- Stoat: Earth, hits hardest in melee, slow but solid.

Wowful weapons
Swords, flails, polearms, axes, bows all have varying reach, speed, damage, and attack style that is reflected when equipped. Some even have distinct physics (flail) or enchantments.

Dynamic Dungeon
Enemies also have unique attack styles, behaviors, and spells. Cricket mages imbue their own tibial spines with magic for deadly darts. Beetles swing battleaxes bigger than their body .
Break boxes and loot chests, bookshelves, and hidden stashes for gold, and gear. Trade with owl librarians, potionmasters, keymasters, and the general store rat for pretty much anything.
Gated rooms stand sentinel over the temple terrace, where darker threats lie in wait.
